For Freedom Boat Club members, access to premier locations in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine makes it easy to explore some of the best fishing spots in New England. Each destination provides unique conditions, abundant marine life, and excellent opportunities to target popular species during peak fishing season.

Top New England Fishing Locations Accessible by Freedom Boat Club

Freedom Boat Club locations are strategically positioned to give members direct access to the best waterways and the ones in New England tend to be highly productive waters known for striped bass fishing, bluefish runs, and ground fishing opportunities. Whether you're planning an inshore trip or offshore adventure, these locations offer consistent action throughout the fishing season.

North Kingstown, Rhode Island Fishing: Narragansett Bay & Block Island Sound

North Kingstown is widely regarded as one of the best fishing locations in Rhode Island, thanks to its access to Narragansett Bay and the fertile waters of Block Island Sound. This area is known for its structure-rich environment, including reefs, rock piles, and tidal currents that attract baitfish and larger predators.

During peak fishing season from May through October, striped bass fishing in Narragansett Bay is especially productive, with fish commonly feeding near bridges, drop-offs, and rocky shorelines. Bluefish are abundant throughout the summer, offering fast-paced action, while anglers can also target summer flounder (fluke) along sandy bottoms. Additionally, black sea bass and tautog are frequently found near underwater structures, making North Kingstown a versatile destination for anglers looking to target multiple species in one trip.

The best of Narragansett Bay fishing is available to all Freedom Boat Club members. We recommend booking a center console from our North Kingstown location, or any of the other 6 locations that comprise our Rhode Island club.

Plymouth, Massachusetts Fishing: Cape Cod Bay Fishing Hotspot

Plymouth is a premier destination for Cape Cod Bay fishing, offering calm harbor waters and quick access to deeper offshore areas. This makes it one of the best fishing spots in Massachusetts for both beginners and experienced anglers.

Plymouth is especially famous for striped bass fishing, with strong seasonal runs occurring between May and October. Bluefish are also common during the summer months, often feeding aggressively on baitfish near the surface. For anglers seeking offshore excitement, late summer and early fall bring opportunities for bluefin tuna fishing, one of the most sought-after big game experiences in New England. Bottom fishing is also productive in this area, with species like flounder and haddock available in deeper waters, making Plymouth a well-rounded fishing destination.

Freedom Boat Club members can access Massachusetts coastal waters by booking a fishing boat from any of the 20 different locations that Boston and Cape Cod club is comprised of, including our Plymouth

Portsmouth, New Hampshire Fishing: Piscataqua River & Coastal Waters

Portsmouth offers one of the most unique fishing environments in New England, thanks to the fast-moving currents of the Piscataqua River. These strong tides create nutrient-rich waters that support a wide range of fish species, making it a top location for New Hampshire saltwater fishing.

From May through October, anglers can enjoy excellent striped bass fishing in Portsmouth, particularly in the river and surrounding coastal areas. Bluefish and Atlantic mackerel are common during the summer, providing steady action for anglers fishing closer to shore. For those looking to venture farther out, offshore waters offer opportunities to catch cod and haddock, especially during the spring and fall seasons. The combination of river, harbor, and offshore fishing makes Portsmouth an ideal destination for anglers seeking diversity and consistency.

Our Portsmouth location offers a variety of vessels for Freedom Boat Club members to choose from for their fishing trip! This club also includes two other locations in Newburyport, MA and Newington, NH.

Kennebunkport, Maine Fishing: Southern Maine Coastal Fishing

Kennebunkport is one of the most scenic and productive fishing destinations in southern Maine, offering access to rugged coastlines, tidal rivers, and offshore ledges. The colder, nutrient-rich waters in this region support a thriving ecosystem, making it a prime location for seasonal fishing.

During peak season from June through September, striped bass fishing in Maine is highly popular, particularly around river mouths, sandy beaches, and rocky outcroppings. Mackerel are abundant in the spring and summer, often used as bait for larger predators. While bluefish are less predictable in Maine compared to southern New England, occasional summer runs provide exciting opportunities. Offshore, anglers can target groundfish such as cod, haddock, and pollock, making Kennebunkport an excellent destination for both inshore and offshore fishing enthusiasts.

Our Kennebunkport location is just one of the five locations that make up our Maine club, which includes both lake and coastal destinations.
