Torquay
Based on Beacon Quay, the Freedom clubhouse overlooks the beautiful Torbay & Torquay Marina. An ideal base to embark on all kinds of boating adventures, it’s just a short hop away from some of the most picturesque spots in the Southwest. Expect an abundance of marine life, including seals, dolphins plus numerous seabirds who populate the nearby islands.
Torbay is well known for its diverse marine life; fishing is popular locally for pollock, mackerel, bass and even blue fin tuna, as well as exploring the many gorgeous coves and bays along the coastline should members wish to take a dip. All boats are powered by the latest Mercury outboards, and as more members join, there will be additional craft added.
Members can discover the delights of ‘The English Riviera’ in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham often referred to as ‘England’s Seafood Coast’, there are a number of fantastic restaurants, some Michelin star, serving fresh seafood straight from the local waters. Venturing further afield you have Salcombe and Dartmouth areas of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’ with award winning beaches such as Blackpool Sands.
From the wonderful UNESCO Global Geopark, to magical history at Torre Abbey and the architecture of Cockington Court, there are countless attractions to discover amidst the exotic palm trees of the southwest. Watersports lovers are also well catered for and many hotspots boast turquoise water in the summer; you could almost mistake it for the South of France.
The team at FBC Torquay look forward to welcoming Freedom Boat Club members to enjoy the charms of Torquay. The sheltered waters and stunning coastal views provide perfect cruising grounds for all types of leisure boaters, and we’re excited to introduce new and veteran boaters alike to everything Torquay has to offer through the ease and accessibility of Freedom.
The fleet of boats at the Torquay club consists of
- Gulfstream 55 - Zodiac Gulfstream 5.5 with Mercury 115 ProXS, to be replaced in in 2025 with Gulfstream 65 - Zodiac Gulfstream 6.5 with Mercury Racing 150R Outboard.
