Located on a peaceful stretch of the non-tidal Thames in Chertsey, Freedom Boat Club’s Chertsey location offers members a relaxed and scenic boating experience just outside of London. Based at the family-run Bates Wharf Marina, this club location combines countryside charm with exceptional convenience - just 5 minutes from the M25 (Junction 11) and with direct train links into Central London.

From here, members can cruise through some of the most picturesque parts of the River Thames. Head upstream to explore historic Runnymede, where the Magna Carta was signed, or visit Windsor Castle. Downstream, enjoy a leisurely ride toward the grandeur of Hampton Court Palace. Along the way, you'll find plenty of waterside pubs, restaurants, and picnic spots to enjoy with family and friends.

Chertsey is one of the oldest towns in the UK, dating back to 666 AD, and offers a rich mix of heritage and entertainment- including nearby Thorpe Park, one of the UK’s leading theme parks.

The Chertsey fleet currently features two RAND Mana 23s - modern, fully electric boats that offer a smooth, silent, and sustainable cruising experience.

Chertsey, along with our Hythe and Swanwick locations, is operated under the same franchise, meaning members can enjoy unlimited boating across all three sites, combining river and sea experiences within a single Freedom Boat Club membership.
